The Cipi approach to permaculture ethics
As well as offering a professional design service, The Channel Islands Permaculture Institute is committed to ecologically regenerative living and farming practices through permaculture education and good ld fashioned hands on community involvement. The three permaculture ethics underpin our work and form the backbone of our projects.
Earth-care: accelerating decomposition to maximise a steady flow of nutrients and beneficial bio from all available resources (community green waste drop offs, horse manure, spent goat bedding, woodland management, duck-water/chicken manure/ spent mushroom substrate, coffee grounds etc... if you can think of it, we're open to using it, providing that it's free from pesticides and herbicides :) We turn 'waste' into mushrooms, biochar, biogas, biological fertilisers and nutrient rich composts and extracts.
People-care: All animals are included in this that we aim to support mental and physical health providing excellent quality biologically grown foods to all in our herd, whether they walk on 4 legs or two. The work keeps us fit!
Fairshare: To ensure fairness, and to ensure the place is maintained, all produce from our projects is split 50/50 between the producers and the project community volunteers. Whether it's African drumming, fresh fruit and veg, gourmet mushrooms, goat milk, eggs, sailing lessons/racing, kayaking, CET (creative expressive therapy groupwork), mushroom cultivation workshops, community campfires, teambuilding days or one of our certified permaculture courses delivered by tried and trusted practitioners, we're here to help you grow. We aim to provide a supportive environment, facilitating a good balance of theory and practical experience, encouraging individuals to learn and integrate permaculture design into their lives.
